No, no no! Don't "think". Prove it before you spread false information! Show me where MAAC says there is a 400' ceiling.

Re: What is the Maximum Height we can fly.

I was not aware that MAAC had any height restriction.

There is no hight restriction in the MAAC Safety Code, only this...

In addition, (CAR) 602.45 states, “No person shall fly a model aircraft or a kite or launch a rocket
or a rocket of a type used in a fireworks display into cloud or in a manner that is or is likely to be
hazardous to aviation safety”.

Re: What is the Maximum Height we can fly.

According to the Canadian Aviation Regulations... it looks like aircraft must stay above 1000' (sometimes 500' depending on the craft and the conditions).

I guess it makes some sense that model aircraft would need to stay below that.

Link:
http://www.tsb.gc.ca/eng/rapports-re...5/a08p0125.asp

Starting with CARs Section 602.14 – Minimum Altitudes and Distance.

In other words, stay within visual range, stay out of clouds and give the right of way to any full scale aircraft.

My understanding is that the only minimum altitude restriction is over populated areas ie: towns and cities. Outside of that full sized aircraft can fly as low as they want.

We regularly have crop sprayers at 10 feet above the ground in this area.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Fly only during daylight and in good weather (e.g. not in clouds or fog).
Avoid restricted airspace (e.g. forest fire areas, prisons or military airspace)
Remain at least 9 km (5 nautical miles) from any aerodromes and heliports.
Maintain below a safe altitude (300 feet (90 metres)) and a safe horizontal distance (minimum 100 feet (30 metres)) from people, structures or buildings.
Do not fly in populated areas or overfly assemblies of people (e.g. sporting events, concerts, etc).
Do not fly where or when you could interfere with any first responders (fire department, police, etc) as they conduct their duties.

300 feet/90 metres ?

And also in that 4.1.3 is interesting...................

You should use your model aircraft for recreational purposes only (e.g. hobby and personal enjoyment). If you are using it for other purposes (i.e. flight training, inspection or academia purposes, etc), section 5.0 below is applicable as is the requirement for an SFOC.
