T/F Nobler

always wanted one of those R/C nobler
flew the C/L version many moons ago
been flying R/C since 1965
am building it right now
should I connect the flaps with the ailerons and use flaperon option or keep them separated
and use elev to flap option instead

thanks
what are your experiences with this model ?

Depending on your radio, if you keep both seperate you should be able to mix in both Flaperon and Elev/Flap mixxing!

my radio can do it
I am trying to save weight
one or 2 less servos would help
the flaps to ail tip are tapered so would be less prone to tip stall
when ail used as flaps
was looking at the plans and it is quite similar to the
kougar so should fly quite similarly ( good )

Frank Klenk has one he built with flaps, retracts and a Jett .50 BSE Sweet, vintage looking airplane. I would ask him what he did...

I built the Nobler with mech retracts, flaps, and a MDS 48 for power. I used the flap elevator mix and never had trouble with tip stalling. also the Nobler was very fast and aerobatic with this engine. I say "was" because I sold it last year, someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse
It was a beautiful flying plane. Good luck with yours.

Hi Jean
My Nobler has mech retracts with flaps. For flaps I used smaller servos to tuck them in place. As you know this is a busy little plane right, not a lot of room for extras. I was quite surprised how slow it will fly. No bad stall habits. You know I don't even use the flaps to land, it floats very nice. And with the Jett 50 it has good speed too. Not like a rocket as the wing is quite thick. But it sure is fun. And when I run the engine up it sure gets attention! You'll enjoy flying this little sweetheart of a plane! I'll have to post some pics for you. Oh, and I covered it in antique red with white and black stripes. Have fun.

Frank

Hi Frank
well mine is ready to cover now so like the old saying goes
I will sand some more
under 5 pounds right now without covering
2 low profile servos in the tail
I was gonna put it in old style colors like my old C/L Nobler
many moons ago but will do it in the snowbird theme instead
left the retracts out, rough grass field and retracts do not mix nery well
it will replace my old worn out Kobra

Hi Jean
I kept all my servos slammed up in the wing area. WOW, it is a tight fit. Had to do some carving just under the canopy to make a servo fit. Now when I turn the plane over it looks like spaghetti in there, like I said, no room. Plus with the servos up front I was able to balance by just moving the battery around. I should weigh it too eh.
