CDN Flash in Hawaii

Hi Guys,
Here's the video of the Flash I built here in Hawaii on its second flight. The videographer was at a tennis tournament for the maiden flight! Thanks to John (MAP) for the superb gear, struts, wheels, and brakes! This plane is so sweet I am shipping it home in the spring, assuming it's still flyable by then!

Re: CDN Flash in Hawaii

After seeing Gary's fly and now yours I really wonder why this jet has not been more popular in Canada, I guess it just a matter of time now.

great video, awesome landing!!

Re: CDN Flash in Hawaii

Hi Angus,
Thanks for the kind words! I used to think it was the size of the plane, but now with most planes at least this big I have no clue as to why it hasn't "taken off" in Canada as well as other locations, though no one here had seen one yet either! The 10 to 15 jet guys here mostly fly scale, but were all looking into the Flash that day!

I hate to admit this but I had no air in the brake system on that landing! The left main brake line was 'burnt' through by the wheel after retraction cuz I left too much slack in it! Fixed now of course! That shows how slow you can land this plane and I was not trying to max slow it! Very nice plane to fly, nicer to land! Just like my Starfire II's but on steroids!
Aloha,
Len

Nice flight Len.

I'm thinking I may be able to boost the popularity numbers for the Flash this spring...

Yes it will! John flies his on a P-70 which was nearly perfect, except the vertical was a touch lacking, though the way John flies you'd never know it. The P-120SX is too much for the airframe and I will be turning it down to about a 23LB thrust this weekend.

Re: CDN Flash in Hawaii

30 lbs of thrust also works well You can see it accelerating as soon as the wheels are off the ground.
