Re: Spring

Spring is here in Edmonton Al. Already started trimming out my fleet on the slope here. Went out a few times and slermaled my newly fiberglassed Alula. Such a great feeling to be active again.

Re: Spring

Went out flying on Tuesday and Wednesday. Caught some thermals with the Dust Devil Tuesday, and had to put the spoiler up to get her down. It was quite cold but I think there must have been a warm front coming in. There was a bit of light cumulus activity and I managed to get underneath it at about 1200 ft. Great fun.
Wednesday was just nice gentle gliding with the Magellan, about 8 minutes between power bursts.
Charles.

Re: Spring

Yesterday was awsome, +4 C, sunny, light south breeze and the snow banks settled so much we could even see the tops of some of the fence posts!

Today... well... I guess we are not out of the woods yet! Oh well! Still have one on the building board.

Re: Spring

North winds gusting to 70 km tonight, should plug the yard up AGAIN! Snow flurries again tomorrow... mind you it's really too early for spring here yet.

The upside with all this snow is the float flying will be awesome this spring. Every second field will be under water!

Post some pictures of the Gentle Lady please. Here is the one I built off those plans many years ago. Converted it to a "V" tail later on... it was interesting, educational, actually worked fine!

Re: Spring

Sure,

Managed to get the nose pulled together on the fuse. Need to place the 1/16 ply plate
under the front bottom next. Can't believe how tough this one is going to be from select wood. I recall the kit that I built almost 20 yrs ago had a lot of diecut crushed wood in it.

Re: Spring

Looking good!

One thing that I have changed on those 2 meter gliders is to discard the balsa nose block in favor of one cut from a spruce 2 x 4. More durable and with the balsa one you have to add lead anyway so why not just put the weight into tougher wood?

Re: Spring

Looking forward to spring here too. The crazy weather up here in Fort St. John has been teasing me for the last while. Temperatures have been up and down a lot, lots of snoe with crusty ice on top still.??:

Holy cow that is an old picture. What is Teresa there, 7 or 8?? She will be 29 this month so that pic has got to be around 20 years ago!!!
