Andrew,
I would go for it and you can modify the kit to the actual measurements. By the looks of it you have a full scale to copy. That makes it a lot easier as you can go by it. It also lets you get photos and other looks for any competition.
I know from looking at the clunk over in Nanton that if I put one of those super smooth finish's on it I will be way out to lunch.
John

Huh? You mean the new Cherokee Arrow is a turboprop?

Well, firstly, as this would be my first attempt at trying a scale plane (and considering my schedule and the fact I am involved with too many other aspects of the hobby to concentrate on scale only) I am thinking more along the lines of being competitive in a "stand off" scale or the lower class. definitely NOT fai or anything like that.

Nony... I was looking at the spadjet this AM at work on my break. Seeing as how I need a test bed to run my home buit KJ66 it just may get airborne again, and perhaps find a way to the Bof Q rally But I dont think the Cherokee will see anything but a nice glow engine (maybe an opposed twin?)

Yeah that was the Pegasus 320 - a little on the large size for this plane, plus it went back to the USA... I didnt get to hang on to that one.

Nice scale project !

Hey Andrew, I have a very good scale project for you
A beautiful De Havilland Beaver !!!!
The plan waas made from real DH drawing, you can't find a Beaver most accurate than mine! The interior can be done very scale like (if you hide the fuel tank in a cargo box... ) I work now on a very scale intrument panel and a scale tail wheel ass'y.
And, it's a canadian aircraft. I'm sure that you have a real Beaver near you. If not, I have access to one or two near me (you are only at 2 hours of me !!)
By the way, I'm now able to offer full kit (not annonced on my website, I have to update it... )

Contact me if you want more info.

P.S.: My Pilatus PC-6 Porter can be a good scale project too....

I've built 3 Top Flight kits and enjoyed building them all.The C-182,AT6 (Harvard),and the V-tail Bonanza. They are like jig saw puzzles with lots of parts(cad designed).Right now I am getting my V-tail airworthy again for this summer....go for it Andrew..

Then again something like Clostermans Beaver also would be fun and challenging to construct.Especially on floats...
