Re: CopterX Advice

My uncle just got one of these, and the bearings for the shaft that drives the tail belt are pressed onto the shaft. They loosened up on him and let the shaft and the gear drift upwards untill they weren't in contact with the main drive gear, and then there was no more yaw controll.

Just something to keep an eye on.

Re: CopterX Advice

Nothing...all is good with the AEV2. I just completed another one tonight. Just do your usual loctite on all metal to metal.
The one Ive built tonight is going in a jetranger fuselage.

That's good to hear.

Did you order yours from ehirobo? If so how long did it take?

Yes...ehirobo.com. It takes usually anywhere from 8 to 10 days.

Re: CopterX Advice

Blades?????

I'm using the stock blades right now. They balanced okay and seem to track fine but I can't seem to keep it in any kind of stable hover.

It kind of drifts back and forth.

I've upped the headspeed a bit and removed half the expo (was running 30% now at 15%) but it didn't seem to help.

Could this be the blades or should I look elsewhere?

Re: CopterX Advice

Swash leveler is a good tool. If you dont have one you can do it "live".

First thing check the center of gravity is close. With the blades aimed nose to tail, lift the heli up by the flybar and watch to see if the skids come up level. If they dont, adjust battery or other parts to get the CG close.

Next
Check to ensure your dampers are not excessively soft. Too soft dampers are like rope steering.

Next
Put heli in a hover and once you get it centered and stable. Let the right stick center (let go of the right stick). Watch the direction the heli drifts. Bring it back to a stable hover and repeat. If the heli drifts in the same direction then your swash needs a bit of adjustment. Land and make the correct adjustment to the swash links. Put the heli back up and try again.

I found it easier to focus on one direction first and get that perfect then work on the other direction. IE, get it steady left to right before I worked on front back.

Good luck.

I'm pretty sure it IS the pilot.

I just want to rule anything else out as I don't need to fight the heli while I'm still learning.

Thanks for the advice, I'll give it a try.
