Re: New Habu...

It looks great, but I read a thread on RCU from a Horizon rep that the BNF price will be about $1200, the $300 is airframe only. For that kind of money I'll stick with turbines.

(yes, I know you can't buy a turbine for that money, but I'd rather invest that money into a turbine jet than into the new Habu)

It does look really nice, but very expensive, if it was maybe even $800 I'd be interested, although IMO it shouldn't be more than $600 - $700 as a BNF version.

Re: New Habu...

No reason to go with what E-flight recommends for electronics. There are alternatives available to everyone for internals that will do the job perfectly well and cost a quarter of what E-Flight wants.

Hellfire and I are getting one of these for sure. And it won't come out to 1200 bucks. =) Just some examples of what is needed and what we will pay...

E-FLIGHT RECOMMENDS...

1)80 Amp ESC - $99.99
2)5000 Mah 6S Battery - $189.99

Total Cost $289.98
--
WE WILL PAY...

1)Turnigy 80 Amp ESC - $39.99
2)5000 Mah 6S Battery - $54.60

Total Cost $94.58
--

So right there even on just two items we are saving $195.4 over what E-flight would want for equipment that will do IDENTICAL jobs. Trust me guys, this jet won't come out to $1200...unless you feel like going with E-flight gear and being grossly over charged.

Ok so I'm not the only one who thinks that a P-20 would be simply AWESOME? Especially for just a fun jet that can go anywhere with pretty much zero setup. Hell I could drop it in my car, hit the field and be flying in minutes.

Re: New Habu...

would a P20 be enough for it? it's a fairly good size, not that much smaller than old glow ducted fans used to be.

Re: New Habu...

I don't know if some of you guys have seen one of the Evader. I have one as well as one of my good flying buddy also. For 189$ it's all fiberglass and i comes with the bungee for takeoff..
Mine was clocked at 98mph with my eagletree gps module...Level flight

See video there:http://www.electrifly.com/ductedfans/gpma1800.html

Re: New Habu...

I have looked at the Evader, it looks really good. It's not comparable to the new Habu, but I've thought about it for a replacement for my foamy Habu.
I do really like the new Habu 32, but it's very expensive and considering I'd still have to drive to Princeton to realistically fly it, I'd rather put that towards another turbine jet.
I'd like the Evader, but I love the durability of the Habu for those evening flights after the event!

Do you have to bungee launch it or can you hand launch it?

Re: New Habu...

Well, to be true, i never tried to hand lunch it, i always use the bungee that came with it...

But i'm pretty sure that is possible, but as it's fast, i think somone else should lunch it, holding the radio and be precise with the control would be difficult i think..
