running temp is 200*F i find on all my smallblocks (12CV-R, 2 T-15's, 15FE updated, 18CV-R). and the steering knuckles keep on stripping on my friends MT2 so aluminum there is a good idea (carefull with the curbs though), or you can tap a more agressive threaded screw into them. shocks dont matter unless your racing. gearing is fine stock unless you want to experiment just for fun. as for hop-ups go strait for a THS Racing exhaust (night and day difference in power !) or get a bat outta heck engine like an OS TZ or the wallet friendly 18CV-R. remember that bling is not always better. some parts need to be plastic to give a bit where an aluminum one would bend and not flex back ! (ie. rims!) and graphite upper-deck may lighten up the truck but it exposes electronics (and may crack)
oh ya, and an ofna style filter is great too. Dynamite made one for like $7, but whatever you do dont get Motor Saver, because it didnt save my first T-15 have fun ! |

mt2 hopups
There's a few parts i've upgraded on my mt2 g3.0, i'd definitely agree with the alloy steering knuckles, the threads strip way too easy, and a higher torque steering servo makes a big difference, along with replacing the plastic bushes in the steering pivot thingies, (not sure what the technical name is for them!!) with ball bearings. Mine went better with a 13t clutch bell, you lose a little top end but it gives loads more punch and midrange which i reckon is more use off road than the extra top end you get with the 15t. also make sure you shim the final drives, the 18ss has the uprated ones as standard, but it was always a weak spot. also the hump pack battery made a huge difference to steering response and run times. I've heard the alloy steering linkage takes out a lot of the slop in the steering too, i'm thinking about getting one at the moment, but i might just fit a short turnbuckle instead to keep the plastic parts instead, these definitely provide a weak link in a big impact, reckon the alloy ones might pass the impact along to the next weakest link, ie the servo! at least the steering linkage is cheap!! hope this helps, have fun with your truck. how about a couple of pics?? heres mine.http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...0188.jpg:GRIN:

i have messed around with my RS4 3 Evo like this before when i was new to RC or when i didnt have money to fix things and as my car sits right now its got no tricks to it other then long fuel tube for if/when it flips i have more time to run to it before i starve it of fuel (which equals a lean mixture harming your engine). So therefore the MT2 is for the most part at its best when you pull it out of the box brand new. Just put long fuel line on it and corse threaded screws into the steering knuckles and your set for small tricks. price goes way up from there.
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i2...o/DSC04291.jpg OH !!! actually, you could do this: http://www.offroadrc.ca/showthread.php?t=15133 this has been tested by me just a bit. i havent hit any jumps or anything with it, just booting it up and down the street. http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i2...f/DSC04150.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i2...f/DSC04155.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i2...f/DSC04156.jpg there we go... found more pics http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i2...f/DSC04157.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i2...f/DSC04141.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i2...f/DSC04140.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i2...f/DSC04139.jpg |

i dont remember how long it ran... but your tank is 75cc right now... double that and add a bit, thats how long it will run for. (160cc tank on Savage) Just remember that i havent tested it to the fullest so it might break, and im sure it will flip over easyer and add more time onto your laps...

Right now im running the 100cc size tank but im picking up the OFNA 125cc tank next week......but im seriously thinking of picking up a used Savage tank and trying it....what plastic parts did you use to make the mounts? or where they just random parts laying around???
I was also wondering, what would be the best gear set up for more bottom end power? If im not mistaken its a 13T clutch bell and a 52T spur gear? Am I right or is there a better bottom end set up? Just so where all on the same page too, im just a weekend driver, i dont race i just bash a little and like to play in the dirt/mud lol. |
