l will be running it with a 40 amp esc with a seperate bec on a 2200 3 cell 25C lipo

Re: Picking electric motor--need help

Yes ....that is a good motor. I have it on an Edge 540. For that plane...the ultimate...use a
10X4.7 E APC for 3D or a 11X6 E APC for speed. Use a CC 35 Amp ESC or Turnigy Sentry 40A ESC. A 11.1v 20C discharge lipo will be fine for the plane.

No need to start another thread for this plane and motor. You have another one going in the Electric Flight Forum.

Re: Picking electric motor--need help

I would estimate this setup at about 135 watts/pound.
That's enough for very good 3d performance.

Yours will definitely work but, in my opinion, you might have been able to shave an ounce on the motor and bought this one instead. Again, that's my opinion.

Turnigy 2836 1200kV

I wouldn't worry about it either way, she'll definitely fly!

Re: Picking electric motor--need help

I was running that same motor on my Multiplex Acro Master with a 13x6.5. I found that I preferred the 12x6 Master Air Screw to the APC-e props. The amps with bigger props I was running will probably be too much for the 40A esc, though. The 11" suggested earlier will probably work very well to maximize the performance on you given setup. I was running it with a 60A Turnigy Plush esc.

It'll provide more than enough power for 3D, though.

Re: Picking electric motor--need help

Motor and esc are too large (heavy) for your target finished weight plus a seperate bec?
It will fly but 3D? Smaller frame motor (below 80grams) 25AMP speed control with BEC will shave off weight and add flight performance.
