5A esc

If you go to backyardflyer.com and scroll down the list, i think Martin has the GWS ICS50 for $5.
Don't know if it is Lipo compatible.

I am pretty sure you can only use it up to 9.6v and not 11.1V , thanks for the suggestion though.

I had tried both the GWS ICS50 and ICS100 on 3-cell LiPo and they worked fine without any smoke.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

They may not smoke but they are not set for the proper low voltage cut-off for 3 cell lipos. They will most certainly over discharge your battery if you fly anywhere near the low voltage cutoff. I know someone that did use these ESCs when first starting out as they are quite cheap. He was using lipos and while flying was always wondering if this was the flight that he landed 1 minute too late and over discharged the battery. Not a fun and relaxing thought to have while playing with your toys. My advice is spend the money on a Castle Creations Pixie ESC. They are very reasonably priced and are lipo safe.

You are right Ted. The cut-off voltage is not designed for LiPo battery. I guess you will have to time your flight carefully. Land immediately when you notice there is a little power loss.

I am using it to drive the tail motor of my Blade CP, I don't need the cut-off function.
Cheers,

I assume your main motor ESC is lipo safe then?

Yep - I am running a brushless setup, a CC25 with a Himax2015-3600.
