LOL, here is the story.......

I did try a Mamba 25 esc with the Tekin 8kv motor and an Apogee 3s 30 amp lipo. The Mamba calibrated fine but when I pulled the trigger the motor started cutting in and out and then the magic white smoke escaped from the esc and the plastic sheathing around the controller melted . I am not sure if it was a bad esc or if the combination of the 8kv motor and a 30 amp 3s lipo just put too many amps through the poor thing. The esc is on its way back from Castle and I am patiently waiting for Bishop Power Products to send me the Wraith 7kv motor I purchased (their last email seemed to indicate they are having problems getting the motor and an alternate will be available). When they both arrive I will try the Wraith/Mamba combination and see how it compares.

Thanks Steve! I am looking forward to seeing your electric RC8. How is it progressing?

The chassis is still a roller but I have a short list of items for the drivetrain and I will be doing "research" at CRC next week during the 8th scale electric race. It won't be much longer until after the CRC race that it will be running...

Nice Truck

Nice looking truck. How long of run time do you get with the 3c lipo.

I am putting the Mamba 5400 combo in mine but have not decided what batt to go with.

Nice truck again

Thanks Steve! I usually only race it and I have not had a chance to with this battery/motor combo yet. The last 3s lipo I used had no problem running the 5-6 minutes for the races, it just was not rated for the current needed by the 6.8kv motor which was in there at the time. When I get a chance to run it for a while with this new set-up I will pass on how long it runs. I would expect a run time of around 20 minutes.
