epoxy woes...

i just bought a set of 40 sized skis at my lhs, only to find one with uncured epoxy. it is beyond tacky.

someone mentioned putting a heat gun to it, maybe epoxying over it. i've tried the heat, it didn't work. i have to seal the skis anyways, would mixing a thinned epoxy and painting over the area help at all?

I'd be taking them back for a refund... not too much you can do. If the epoxy was mixed improperly it will never harden up.

I had a bad batch of epoxy once before and glassed some heli rotor blades with the stuff. They stayed gummy for months. I did the heat gun trick, it didnt do much. I eventually scraped the stuff off, wet sanded and then recoated with some good epoxy. But, it was not worth the pain and sufering...

If I bought something like that that was not properly done I wouldnt try and repair it but demand an exchange. Just my opinion!

You can put CA over the epoxy, but if you stir it up it will go like noodles and then harden........I had some stickey epoxy once and it wouln't harden, I put CA over it and it was fine, but I would just take them back.
