I didn't. After all the suggestions to not take the case apart, I figured out another way. I soldered a rod to the case in the center of the dent and pulled. A light tap with a body hammer at the crease and POP went the dent.

PS: glad to see the motor will live to see another day .cool Idea about the dent pulling ,will have to try that on a tune pipe .

Doubt you'll get it to work on a tuned pipe, the AMT case is stainless steel, not that tough to silver solder to, a tuned pipe is aluminum, if you don't burn through it, you'll probably fracture it when you try to pull the dent.

Re: See what happens when..........

one of our flyers had the same problem with lipos in his transmitter this summer. The voltage stays up for a long time and you get complacent about charging. The meter indicates the voltage is ok, but when the battery dumps it does it NOW.

a lipo battery nearing the end of charge can show fine at take off but totally die in the space of a five or six minute flight, voltage dropping so quick it might not even trigger a low voltage alarm.

when a lipo shows voltage at say 9.5 which would be ok for nimh/nicad, it's already too late.

Re: See what happens when..........

Hi Gary,
Sorry to hear about the crash... $#it happens... any idea why the Li-po dropped voltage? Was the Futaba Tx a 14MZ which has its own Li camcorder battery, or a Tx with a replacement Li-po?

Re: See what happens when..........

I don't think that you can get an accurate condition of Lithium ION, Polys or Mag unless you put a descent load on them. Say 1 to 1.5 amps. I doubt if any transmitter be it Futaba or JR can give that type of draw.
