Re: 150" 35% Columbia 400 (Valach 120) - BBKING Assembly Thread

Well lots more little stuff done last night after doing some drawings for AMR.

Got all the linkages glues into the wings and tail feathers. Now I can begin linkage setup and programming. This weekend I am gone but I am hoping to get this plane ready to fly for next weekend (is this weather ever stops)

Here are some pics.

I also plugged in the wing lighting and it is AWESOME

Re: 150" 35% Columbia 400 (Valach 120) - BBKING Assembly Thread

Well this weekend I did not have a lot if time but was able to get the elevator servos mounted, the extensions made and the tail feathers mounted. I also glued the rudder in and got all the servos mounted in the wing.

Tonight I will make the extensions for the wings and install the nose wheel servo. I also plan to get the front end started for servos and choke linkages.

I did have a chance to put the wings on in the yard. WOW the wingspan is big. Should be a glider

Re: 150" 35% Columbia 400 (Valach 120) - BBKING Assembly Thread

Hey guys,

Some EXCITING news. As some of you know I live fairly close to Scott Gray and he has released his new regulator targeted not just for Helis but also for Airplanes. This is a whole new regulator that I think is about the best designed one out there. What is neat is there are 8 ports on the regulator. Inside the regulator are actually two regulators that split the unit in half. One side can be set independently of the other and the 4 servo ports on each side talk and can pass communication. What this allows you to do is run 4 channels on one voltage and the rest for the receiver on another. I am using this feature to run my whole airplane on 8.4 volts (HV servos) but run flaps, steering servo and throttle with standard servos at 6.8V to protect them. The regulator is a switching reg designed by Scott that is very efficient.

The best part is it is so easy to set the voltage. simply hold the set button and chose from 5.2, 6.0, 6.8, 7.4, 8.4, or 9.0 Volts on each side.

The system uses one 3s battery and supports sbus, as well as telemetry for monitoring the flight pack voltage ahead of the regulators. I can say this is very well thought out. If you just want to use it as a regulator (traditionally) you can set both sides to the same voltage and run 2 servos through each side. That way you have 4 power cable going into the reciever and no loss of channel slots from the reciever.

The possibilities are endless you could run your whole plane on 6v for the traditional guys and run your kill switch, retracts, lights etc on lower voltages.

Best of all he regulator has a pushbutton PTS that is really cool. One little button to turn on the whole plane, and of course its fail safe.

Here is a sneak peek at this new unit!!!

Huum! That looks really cool Kevin!! I love the idea of being able to run a mixture of HV and non-HV servos and no need for a Diode to drop voltage. Plus on 3S, very consistent power delivery and more onboard capacity!!

I think I'll have to order one today.

Thanks for sharing.
