Can anybody tell me what the difference is? If they are both the same (as the Hobby King website says) then I think I'll risk shipping from China to save the 100+ dollars.

I think you will find that they are the same radio, just in Asia they are called differant. The other thing to really think about is service as I am sure Horizon will not service this radio.

Read about the trim differences and the apparently lower RF output of the DX model destined for markets outside N America.

Then ask why Horizon won't service it if you have a problem.

Thanks for the replies. After doing some further research it is confirmed that Horizon will not service any radio bought overseas. Also it is true that there may be lower RX output to comply with the regulations of some countries, although I'm not sure that is the case with the one from China.

In any case I've decided not to risk it since it may be more hassle than it's worth.

Also the DSX9 throttle trim is a digital switch, whereas the X9303 has a traditional slider.

You can buy the X9303 in the USA for the same price (inc. shipping) as from Hobby City, just do a little searching. Here's one:
