Revised flap horn setup from the original plans. Horns will be glued in once primed and sanded . makes sanding easier and will glue in permanently when ready for painting. Used dubro ball and socket with 2-56 socket bolts thru the ball and horn. Can be easily replaced if the ball and socket get worn.
The flap horn on the right had to be moved for better servo placement in the wing. The shape of the inner ply horns is the same as the inner ribs. Should make for a sturdy flap linkage setup.

The servos are ATX 94820 digitals which also make for about 50% more power than the original designed servo requirements and I also used them in the ailerons. Small BB , metal gears , light and 76 oz/in brushless.

Will also have a single plug from the 4 wing servos to connct to the receiver for faster field setup with no chance of plugging the wrong servos together. That will (pics) follow when ready.

Re: Top Flite Cessna 182 Skylane build

Here is a sample of the wing plugs I plan on using for the wing . Can make up 6,9 and 12 circuit plugs with any lead length and Y-connects if required . Plug is polarized so no chance to plug in wrong way at the field . You design; I can build . Not cheap but sure eliminates the frustration of hooking up ailerons to flaps and so on . The one shown is a 6 circuit for the one side of my twin Otter with split wing . That way I can cut down my plug-in assemply from 6 to 2 plugs and they do not pull apart as they are locked.

Re: Top Flite Cessna 182 Skylane build

Have all the control surfaces glassed today . want to do one more coat and scrape off excess and will report weight gain. Lokks like very little at the moment. Hope to start either the wing or fuse next week.

Weight gain was about 23 grams or .811 oz for the ailerons + elevators plus rudder.

Initial glassing of the wing added 50 grams. Will do another thin layer of epoxy and scrape off excess and see what I come up with next week.

Re: Top Flite Cessna 182 Skylane build

Thank you. Did one side of glassing the fuse today and other side gets done tomorrow. Not so easy, doing it all in one piece when there are multiple curves.
Mrrandy ; should edit your BC location in your profile.

All the glassing is done so now doing the window placements but will install permanently after painting is done.

Re: Top Flite Cessna 182 Skylane build

First prime is done and some of the sanding on control surfaces. Will do more sanding tomorrow and then if all looks good will do some hinging and a final thin prime after I glue on the plastic trim on the control surfaces . Pain in the but but after getting this far gotta do it right. Right

Re: Top Flite Cessna 182 Skylane build

Here is the final result and also how I added only 6oz for balance at 3 7/8 inches back from leading edge with AUW of 13.4 lbs.

Need to do a lateral balance as the wing dropped to a left bank on liftoff . May move the CofG back from the 3 7/8 balance as the nose pitches down a fair bit when power pulled right back.

Had to mix compensating elevator to the flap to keep the nose down when flap selected....... pretty drastic climb when flap selected

Overall ....... enjoyed the flights but a very slick airplane so will have to do some better landing approach speed control.
