Spring flights with the Elan

We don't have any larger fields in the lower mainland that are good for jets but the new RCFCBC grass field seemed like a good place for a jet like an Elan. So I built one over the winter and Maidened it at Whidbey last month.

I headed to RCFCBC today and found freshly mowed grass (thanks!) and awesome flying conditions. 11 deg, just a light breeze - perfect!

Te jet flew awesome and it sure was nice to just head to the field for a few flights and head home in the same afternoon.

Sure feels like spring is here....

PaulD

Ps that B100F sure is a strong runner and a perfect match for the Elan.

Ya Ron he sure is mean to us isn't he. Good going on the Elan Paul, will see several more gallons burnt with easier access to a close field for you now I am sure.

Hey Kev, at least you're building a jet - and not rebuilding a bathroom...

Hey Paul. Any concerns with sound, fire, etc, etc, etc (founded or otherwise) at that club, or are they relatively accepting of a turbine out there?

Re: Spring flights with the Elan

Kelly been there done that got the t shirt

It's a turbine friendly field I'm thinking of rejoining there again. Although a good grass sport flyer is needed the runway is kinda bumpy but well mowed.

Kelly,

Of course, sound level is always a concern at flying fields but the local conditions are supportive. The surrounding areas is all pasture with a few trees so fire concerns are minimal. And of course, the Fraser river is right there.

Here is a video I did with my Electric Cub (RIP ) and go pro of the field.
