What size is the heli George? Would it compare in size to a 600 or 700 Trex?

It uses 600mm blades.

Good video Phil! For me when it comes to scale I think electric is the best way to go, that trail of smoke doesn't do it for me.

Agreed, but back then electric was not an option. Also I usually flew that heli with standard 15% Cool Power fuel which actually did not smoke very much. Looked a bit like a full scale G47 with a Lycoming that was just burning a bit of oil. For me the ideal Bell 47 is the larger Vario version that is powered by a gasoline engine - no smoke and close to original sound.


If I still had the heli, (sold it at a heli funfly after getting an offer I could not refuse) I would have used the electric conversion kit the OP is referring to for his Bell 47.

The lack of smoke is a big plus for scale, specially scale models of turbine powered helis, as you can see in this video of an A-109A.

That's more like it. Did I see a flybar on that heli, if there is one I much prefer flybar over flybarless. I hope to do more soon on my flybared four blade head but in the meantime I'll stop highjacking this thread.

Yes, this A109A was using the stock Swift two blade head with a flybar.
