Save your money and do it right the first time. With the Fromeco 2600mah li/ion in my .90 size 3D plane, running 6 high torque, high speed servos I could get a dozen flights in on one charge.
Nimh, and nicad batteries are soon to be a thing of the past. Lithiums are the way to go.
I also have a lipo in my tx that lasts me weeks on end without having to recharge.
As you progress in the hobby, you'll soon appreciate these types batteries.

save your money and do it right the first time :
wouldnt you spend more on the batt first off then have to buy a charger to go with it :

i did it wrong because i didnt use lithium : how does this make sense

maybe i missunderstood but seems like your going to far with that statement i run 5 high torque digitals and one standard servo on a 1.20 sized bird on nimh batts and run all day if i like dont need lithium to do this
as a matter of fact the heavier batt helps with cg

i agree it would be nice to have the lithium in my tx as computers are thirsty for the juice but considering a field charger will charge my tx in less than half hour by the time my turn comes again im fully charged

dont get me wrong lithium is great but not very forgiving (yet)

This is where Duralite products shine. Stick with Nimh sure, they work well enough.
Duralite bats come with built in safety features that do not allow the battery to be charged overvoltage or reversed. That being said you must only use a li-ion charger or all that goes out the window. I just got the Duralite charger because I need to charge 2 rx bats and one ign. bat at the same time but it does a much better job than my triton on these batteries.
I am not sponsored by duralite but I cannot say enough good things about the products and support.

That Lithium pack is only 2500 mAh, mine are 2800 mAh, NiMh, and charge (trickle) on the charger that came with the radio, so I don't have to use my LiIon charger or remove the battery from the radio.

Why change to LiIon?

NiMh is the way to go, you just have to trickle charge it so that it does not self-discharge (but everyone has that charger already, it came with the radio)

NiMh are heavier than LiIon, but significantly cheaper.

One other thing, it's not as exciting as this: (not as ugly either)

Well it looks like you are getting lots of advice, some good some..........This is pretty simple, if you want more flights then either buy more batteries the same as what you have now or go buy one large capacity battery. What you need to remember is if you get a larger battery the charger that came with your radio really isn't going to cut it. By that I mean a typical wall charger charges at a rate of 50mah. If you bought say a 2700mah battery it would take from completely dead about 54 hours to charge it and that doesn't take into account the fact that the battery will self-discharge a bit too. A battery should be charged at least 1C it's capacity (2700mah - 1C = .270mah charge rate)

So my advice is to get you self a decent battery http://www.greathobbies.com/producti..._id=GHP270M4FS and an inexspensive field charger like the Hobbico MKII http://www.greathobbies.com/producti...od_id=HOBP0290
and enjoy a day full of flights. Since it seems as though you are still a bit new to the hobby don't bother messing around with li-poly batteries, you don't need them or their cost.

Cheers.

Thanks for the Help

Just wanted to say thanks for all the advice. I decided to go with a 1500mah NiMH battery and bought a Triton Jr charger for good measure.

Thanks again.
