You bet - no foam is going to be really wierd!!!!

I've built a couple built-up wings in the past, but nothing of this magnitude! In all honesty, I bought the kit more for the build than for the flying, since I've read that the Modellbau kits are super top-notch and they use a unique type of wood that is only available in Germany (sort of like a basswood, only it has a really high modulus) - this is how they get these Monsters so light compared to other 50 or 55% models and yet so stiff.

Should be a very interesting build!

I'm reading that I should expect 600+ hours to build it, so equivalent of building two 43% Cardens

The ultimate build challenge with no legible instructions and no full-size plans!!!

Trev

Very cool scheme Trev but, where's your sense of patriotism??

Ray Ban Golds........ gotta do it dude. Just think of the photo op there. You could bring your plane down to Ottawa and get a pic of it beside the full-scale. That'd be awesome!!

Re: 50% Modellbau Pitts Build Thread - Should I??

Yes, there were a Canadian team based out of Vancouver, I believe. Honestly, I don't know a whole lot about the team, I've just always loved the look of their planes and the colour combination. I've spent a considerable amount of time staring at the one at the museum here in Ottawa. Black n gold would probably suck for our application but, it'd sure look pretty sitting in the pits. hehe, get it....... sitting in the pits...... a Pitts in the pits.............

I'm beat, I should go to bed

G'night

I think this is the Ray Ban plane you're referring to at the Air Museum. Looks very sharp but might be kind of hard to see in the air on a grey day with that black & gold colour scheme.
