Hey fokes. Question for ya. How should carb on this thing be set up? I just got a ASP61a abc egine off a friend,it's been sitting in the box in his shop for about 6 years. It's new never been in a plane till now,so it needs to be broken in.I put it into my tiger 60 and I can't get it going. There is gas to the carb, but it's not getting in. I blow out the carb with air and put some cleaner through. I had to take out both needle values to clean it out, so now it's al screwed up. There is one paper with the engine and I don't find it a lot of help. If I prime it or put gas down the carb it will start and die.

Re: asp.61 carb start up?

Your first error was removing both needle valves.
This should be able to help. The asp is a clone of the magnum.

I hope you are using glow fuel, not gas.

Re: asp.61 carb start up?

Initial carb setup at the bench!
1. With the high speed needle open several turns, close the throttle barrel on a "T" pin or like and with piece of fuel line blow through the fuel inlet and adjust the low speed needle until you can hear a vary small stream of air is coming out.

2. Open the throttle wide open and adjust the high speed needle until it blocks only half the air you blow through the fuel inlet.

This is a good place to start. When you look down the carb at full throttle you Just should be able to see the end of the idle needle, if the idle needle is visible.
