This is a Hyperloc 1600 my son and I have been building. Notice it pretty much looks like my DV8R jet lol, must like red white black and checkers... It's 9' tall with dual deployment, dual flight computers and a M motor.

Very neat. Will we be seeing any onboard vids?

Impressive! How much would something like that set you back. How much does each launch set you back.

What altitude do you expect to hit.

Nice! Do you fly with the BCRC?

From the airframe size, I'm guessing you're expecting 10,000' or so?

So, an M motor produces 5,000 to 10,000 N of thrust - kind of puts my Behotec 180 to shame

I would love to see that engine fire off. Biggest rocket I ever did was a cluster of D motors back in my high school days, that was near 10 pounds... no where near the possible 2,000 lbs of thrust from yours!

Re: Not a jet, but there's fire!

It's impressive to say the least! The downside is, you're looking at burning ~ $300-$500 worth of fuel in under 10 seconds - Literally!

How much flight time would that get you on the Behotech?

If you're interested in some of those larger rockets, have a look at the website for the Canadian Association of Rocketry :http://www.canadianrocketry.org/. There's a mini slideshow of flights from all over the country.

That must have been a big rocket, and a LOT of D's, if it was 10 pounds and actually got off the ground!

Re: Not a jet, but there's fire!

naw, I was guessing about 10 pounds thrust, the rocket was probebly under a pound. It was my attempt at an egg launcher. Ended up in hydro wires after a few hundred foot launch

This is going up on a Contrails hybrid so the cost is substantially less. You have to economize when you've got two kids in this hobby! I don't think they have anything that flies on motors smaller than a G. Check out the rest of our collection, the rest of them are a lot smaller. And who knows, I may actually make it to the spring jet rally with that old DV8R!

Re: Not a jet, but there's fire!

Nice looking fleet! Lost my Mini Magg about a week ago, after a decade of solid service. Going to have to order a replacement.

Yep, hybrids are certainly far cheaper on a "per flight" basis. Pretty rare over here on the east coast, so I tend to forget about them. Very cool, but too finicky for my tastes. Then again, all my r/c planes to date have been electric
