T-rex 450 SE Balance help

Ok So I just finished upgrading my old Trex XL CCPM to a SE
I have everything trimmed out and blades tracked, no vibration at all! Flys GREAT CG is bang ON. All is squared up and 90, from mid stick to the Rotors.

Problem is that when i pick up the heli from the head button, Rotor parallel to the tail boom or even fly bar parallel to the tail boom. The heli tips to the left. Roughly 2-3 degrees, Its hard to tell. Right skid lifts off first. I stuck a level on the top of the upper fram and sure enough it tips. Everything is set up in the middle of the frame. I tested this with the battery in.

Any ideas?? Could my tail servo throw it out that bad? I used the same setup on the XL but with a with a heaver tail servo mounted in the same spot and I did'nt have a prob.

PS. I also tryed lifting from the flybar also.

Re: T-rex 450 SE Balance help

getting picky aren't we LOL if your concerned about hovering at a slight angle this is normal it is a torque thing but unless you pick it up with needle points in the exact middle of the button it would be hard to tell why it would be off 2 or 3 degrees. If it didn't require an over amount of trim and hovers rock solid I don't know what the issue would be.

Good luck

Re: T-rex 450 SE Balance help

I take my time to balance my 450SE out perfectly. To do this, I hover my helicopter upright, and trim it untill it required no input to stay level. After that, I flip the helicopter over inverted and then do the same thing. If the helicopter does not hover inverted with 0 input, then I know I have a balance problem. I will correct my weight balance, and go threw the procedure again.

Hope this helps.

I agree with you, sounds like your as picky as I am. If it's not 100% balanced its not good enough. I will try that as soon as i can hover inverted...lol

Is there a typical "tip" to left on the SE? not under power. I have NO balance issue when in a hover. Just on the bench.

Re: T-rex 450 SE Balance help

Most helis don't balance perfect laterally. A nitro heli is almost always heavier on the muffler side, and I've never noticed any bad tendincies because of it. My 600 size electric doesnt fly any better than my 600 size nitro and I'm sure it's balanced better to the pitch axis.

But, if you want your heli absolutly 110% perfect just add some weight to the light side. Having said that, the added weight might do more harm than good. Your tail servo could be throwing it off. My 90 size models tilt more than 2 or 3 degrees if I lift them by the flybar, all due to the muffler weight.
