Re: CA glu

I've never had CA go hard (other than when applied to wood).

Epoxy hardener will go hard: heat that in the microwave on high for about 10 seconds or till it warms up (not hot) . Will become like water so be careful when using it.

Re: CA glu

Light and moist air are the killers for CA. Will cause them to thicken up.
Try using (or re-pouring into) smaller bottles and for those in storage fill to the top to eliminate head space for air especially if storing in the fridge because when removed from the fridge any moisture in the head space will start the hardening process.

Re: CA glu

I had a 1/3 of a bottle thicken up once on me. Since this was the only medium CA I had and I wanted to build that night I added some thin CA to the bottle of medium CA. I kept adding the thin until I had what I thought was the consistency of medium CA.

This worked for me and I was mixing the same brands. I know of no other way to bring CA back after it has thickened.

Re: CA glue thickening

CA is not a solvent cement (where it cures by the solvent evaporating), it cures with humidity.

You can remove the humidity, but once it starts cross linking you cannot un-polymerize it. (without making a useless goo)

Keep it dry, keep it dry, keep it dry. Refrigeration is said to help.
