So I was given a hint that there was somebody local who had a NIB unstarted Tom Cook F4 phantom kit. Got the contact info and went to see the kit. Sure enough, it's NIB, but JUST the kit, no gear, no wood, just fiberglass, foam and instructions, can't remember if the wings were sheeted or not, didn't look that close.
Didn't take long before the
"it's an extremely rare kit, you'd be hard pressed to ever find another one". With a slight eye roll I said "uh huh, and how much do you want for it?"

With a dead serious look on the guys face he says "it's a bargain at $10,000"

I just stood there with my jaw hanging open, finally I said to him "if they would sell for $10,000 I'm sure Tom would start making them again. I then explained how I could buy an ARF F4 and outfit it with a turbine and all the gear for that kind of money. He tried telling me how once a Tom Cook F4 is finished they could sell for nearly $100,000......

I just said thanks for your time and good luck on that.....

I wonder what my Firebird would be worth at those prices?

I threw one in the garbage a few years ago. At the time they were good. By todays standards they were junk.
