I get a spark sometimes, depends on if the charger is on or off. I don't think it has anything to do with the battery.

If you are remotely concerned, get a lipo charging bag.

Good for storing your batteries. I use 1 for storing and 1 for charging, always.

Re: Omg my Lipo battrey sparked when plugging it in

the reason for the spark is because these lipo battery pack such a huge punch, it can jump across a small distance of air very easily
and since electricity is such a lazy thing, it'll always find the shortest and easiest route, and also the fastest
since when you're plugging your battery there is a split second where the two connector meets gets so close but yet not close enough to make actual contact, but the resistance in the air there is small enough for electricity to jump through, that is the reason why you get a small spark

you have nothing to worry about unless the spark is made by you shorting the battery together, in that case you deserved it :P

Re: Omg my Lipo battrey sparked when plugging it in

with that being said, you might not always get a spark
with my lipo's even the nimh has had that happened
regardless i wouldn't be worried about it

If you are, as Rick suggested, get a lipo bag and charge your battery in a non-flammable area such as a used up coffee can

Re: Omg my Lipo battrey sparked when plugging it in

Feel free to correct this but I read somewhere that it's the capacitors in the esc that may have some charge that causes the spark....

That is the correct answer here.I believe that the X0-1 is the Traxass super car? When plugging into a ESC it will load the capacitors if they are drained which they normally are. This will cause a spark which can be quit strong or light depending. Some esc's are worse than others but this is normal. On 12s heli packs on large helis the spark is pretty good sometimes but again normal. This spark damages connector such as Deans as it burns the end off the tension spring over time.Hooking up to charges will also cause a smaller spark as again there is current flow. Plug in straight and fast ,do not sit and wiggle them around trying to line them up.Good shielded bullet connectors that self align such as EC5's really help this. You have no problem as this is normal. Have fun.
