OK, by the grace of God himself, somehow the weather has (A) warmed up to the freezing point and (B) became sunny, and windless!! And all at the same time!! Woah! its usually -20 by now here where I live.

So, I managed to take the whizard out to fly it. I first test ran the TD 049, it ran great. Yup, it is an awesome combo for the plane. I was running some 25% fuel and an apc 6-3 prop. More than enough power to fly this thing pretty fast, and at idle it was great for a nice slow flyby. I guessed I got 6 or 7 minutes on the 1 ounce tank, and it ran like a clock. Mostly I did 1/2 throttle flying with some full power for loops (3 consectutive from level flight!) and even managed a slow roll with a wee bit of inverted. This sure makes me smile, coming full circle 20 years alter and finally getting a successfull flight with a whizard.

I am happy and content - what more can I ask for today??

AJC

WOW ..WARM WINTERS OUT THERE TOO EH? I can remember living out there in 1980-1981-1982 ... it was so cold ....... the water pipes froze in our basement causing $8000.00 damaga... can also remember the wicked snow storms with near 100cm snow falls in 12 hours .... crusing the highways on my John Deer Spitfire with nobody in sight .... ahh.. those were the day good to see you flew the plane!

yes, hand lauch and touch down in the snow. That place is the mine tailings field behind my home, its about 2 or 3 feet of snow now but packed down by all the snowmobile traffic that cruises by there daily... makes a good place to fly in the spring (march and beginning of april) when the snow is packed hard.
