amelvin,

the most important thing with these small electric park flyers is WEIGHT WEIGHT WEIGH WEIGHT!!!!! The motor size has a lot to do with the weight, but just because an airframe specs a certain size motor doesnt mean you cant put a bigger one on it. It is BEST to go with the reccomended motor size, but you can get away with a larger motor on a given airframe if it is set up properly. I know this from first hand experience. I had a GP FlatOut with an E-flite park 400 960kv outrunner (yes, a 400 960kv). The battery I had was an E-Flite 860mAh pack and the airplane flew pretty well. It had a MASSIVE amount of power and aerobatics were a blast (might I also add, pretty easy too.. the flat foamies are much easier to handle than regular airplanes). What got me was I didnt have the correct size battery for the current that was drawn from the motor and the battery lasted about 4 flights. When I bought a "better" pack it was heavier and put the airplane over the weight limit and it didnt fly so great and I crashed it. If I paid more attention to the weight of everything I could have selected the proper battery for my setup but I just went out and willie-nilly bought a much higher capacity pack. So the point here is, you CAN get an airplane to work with a larger size motor (as long as it is not TOO large, maybe 1 size up or 2 depending on how much weight you have at your disposal) but it needs to be set up correctly. As I said before though, it is best to go with the manufacturers specs. That said, I hope you figure it all out and enjoy flying whatever you decide to use.

Steve
