Hank,

Great thread.

The thread includes lots of pieces of information regarding dimensions to recreate the model.... could you add a few more such as wing chord length, motor/wing/stab incidence angles/relationship.

thanks
All the dimensions are there on the 1" grid squares. Here's a better picture of the fuse sides.
The top side is notched out for the stab, which has a 1/8 drop at the front of the stab (positive incidence)
The motor has 3-4 ° negative incidence
Rib construction on page one#4 shows the length of the ribs, once you add the leading edge and trailing edge your at approximately 7" as shown.

Re: Home made indoor Piper Cub 41" wingspan 74gm's build thread

hi Hank,

Ok, I now understand where and how the bits are attached......

.... but I'm still mystified about what you using as bungee cord..... never seen anything that accompanied servos that resembles bungee cord...

.....and I would think that for the bungee cord to function as a shock absorber, compressing with the weight/shock of a landing, something along the lines of a stretched spring from a cheap ball point pen - that would compress upon a landing - would work (perhaps I have an alternate solution - smiley)

thanks again

Michael

Picture of bungee cord holding servo in box it came in.
You might also find these types of bungee cords on clothing tags.
Bungee cord gets stretched when the landing gear legs get spread, not acting like olio type.

Picture of the two side by side, the original on the left is 7 years old.
If the day I go flying turns out to be crowded, I wait to the end of the day when the reagades have their share of flying.
Be patient when you go up, and it will last.

The wheels on my first one is made from pink insulation foam, with aluminum tubing glued in for the axle.
Foam friendly black marker for the tires and paint for the hub caps.
And a glass bead glued for a retainer.

hi Hank,

Now I get it and know what to use.

And thanks for the incidence angles, fuselage profile and wing chord dimension.

Hank Thanks again for taking the time and effort to build this again and share it with everyone I am gathering the hardware for my building. My balsa right now is buried in a box in my garage since we just moved to TN but I will dig it out in the next warm spell.

Re: Home made indoor Piper Cub 41" wingspan 74gm's build thread

Hank, I have now worked my way one time through your entire build thread. Since I was the guy that kind of started to on this project I think I owe you a explanation of why you have not seen anything from me during your postings. Unfortunately my wife and I have been dealing with some health issues and that kept me away. Things have now settled down and I am back to more things modeling. I must thank you again for the the masterful job you did on putting this build thread together. I have not seen any done better!! If I get up there above the border I think I owe you a case of Labatts or whatever your pleasure is! Thanks Again!

Re: Home made indoor Piper Cub 41" wingspan 74gm's build thread

Hi Robert, it's nice to hear from you, no explanation needed, l know everyone has their own little world.

I'd like to thank you for giving me the inspiration for doing this build thread, you being a neighbor across the border managed to hunt me down using MAAC, to find out more about this unique build, it touched a place in my heart.

Now I have a new and improved indoor Cub, the extra power it has with the E-flite 180 gives it an impressive slow climb.

Do let me know if you come to southern Ontario,
we can check out a field or two.

and Best Regards Hank
