Re: Micro Me 109 G maiden flight !
The more of these little planes I build, the less I understand
It flew without adjustments- even being overweight, and with undersized stab and rudder. Maybe Willy had some there. Features, a flat plate 5 mm depron airfoil feathered down at the TE, with a little undercamber in the center, and tip washout. Very slight wing incidence. Zero incidence on the stab A fair amount of downthrust on the motors. In flight hunts up and down a bit, maybe because of the long Rx dangling aerial. I have a nice video clip, can somebody tell me how to attach it to a post? thanks Now, I will paint and detail it. |

Re: Micro Me 109 G build log
Wow. I cant wait to see how it looks after paint.
I am constantly amazed at the progress of RC aircraft. I remember as a kid building plastic models and fantasizing about how cool it would be if we could make these fly. When I was 10, I remember building a 1:32 scale Me-109 and dreaming about making that model fly. It sure seemed big enough. It looks as though your plane is about the same size, only your flies. Is that cool or what?? |

Re: Micro Me 109 G build log
Thanks for that--
Important to me in a scale model is the "go-to" image in the mind - a stereotype if you will. The top one in the Profile publication shown is my favorite, but you can see the mess I made without an airbrush. So, I'm using the second image below it, with the 2-tone effect, and will combine the yellow stripe and red letter just for the color, of course with yellow spinner and wingtips--in keeping with the Me 109 stereotype. An added advantage with the green rudder is that nobody will miss the swastika. Lots of building time with rotten weather- this is the 3rd time I typed this between power failures ! |

Re: Micro Me 109 G build log
Ok, I decided I could tackle the canopy, and found that it was more hassle
to mask it than to just paint the canopy bars freehand. I can always tidy it up with a sharp knife , scraping the rough lines straight. Working on this, I came to the conclusion that Messerschmitt Flugzeugbau must have had some sort of procurement problem with plexiglass.......... -they could only get in foot-square pieces ! |

Re: Micro Me 109 G build log
Looks good. You did nice work.
For the canopy another trick is to paint some tape and cut strips to the width of the framing needed for the4 scale. I built a 'bird cage' canopy that way before. |

Re: Micro Me 109 G build log
Been flying this model a lot and worried about weight build-up with adding markings--
more like procrastination as this is not one of my skills I found that using a simple stencil, and outlining the crosses with black, freehand is acceptable for me anyway. I got one of those pens for writing on DVD's, very handy, also in blue and black. I used liquid paper for white paint which I like |

Re: Micro Me 109 G build log
Well this is as good as my IQ will allow, I sure aint a perfectionist,
and am grateful for the slightly out of focus photo. But it has the character in flight I wanted. If you're flying in eastern PEI, watch out for the Hun in the sun !! |
