charging glo igniters

different makes have different rates they charge at, but a good rule of thumb I have used is if it is a warm it is done.

what kind of charger do you have? is it the wall charger that comes with the ignitor?
Take the battery out and tell me if its a nimh or nicad, and what number is on the side of it ... like for example 1700, 1300, 3600, 4800.

ok so that makes it a little tricky... you have a nicad battery in the glow ignitor.
Nicad batterys like to be completely discharged before they're recharged, otherwise they develope whats called a 'memory effect' and will lose some of their capaicty over time.
I would say try to use the glow ignitor as many times as you can before recharging. This may be a little inconvenient, as you may go somewhere to run, and the ignitor dies on you.
In your original post, you say that you will get another one.... next time try to get an ignitor that has a nimh or 'nickle metal hydride' battery in it - they don't suffer from memopry effect like the nicads do. you can plug them onto the wall charger any time you like to recharge.

Or instead of buying a whole new igniter, just buy a new cell. I'm assuming it's a sub-C size cell like those used in stick packs for 1:10 electric cars. Just go to your local hobby shop and grab a 3000mah or higher nimh cell for 10 bucks.
