I just got back from a flight with the big Pitts!!... The wind is at least 30kph with gusts above 50kph

It's like flying a kite in the wind with that huge, fat fuse and low wing loading!!

I've never been happier to hit terra-firma!!

This afternoon, I'll start the hinge line bevelling Jack

Jack... It lifted off in maybe 5ft and when I came to my senses about how windy it was, I was shaking so bad, I could hardly hold the radio!! It definitely doesn't handle the wind like our 43% Cardens!!

I let out a huge yell when it touched down!! Oh... And it was a 30 degree crosswind landing also That Pitts yaws more than a 747 on crosswind landings

Thanks goodness the 4 Redheads were there!! I needed every cc today!!!!

Yes thank goodness for having good power in tough situations!!

I remember a funfly here once...Extreme winds at about 90 degrees to the runway. Everyone is standing around hands in their pocketswhen i showed up. Sooooooo being one not to be outdone by a little windI put the trainer together and off I went....Just like you, realized this is way way more than I bargained for I did about half a flight then started testing out how this landing was going to go.. Finally lined up on final with the tail pretty much facing me cause of the crosswind and voila a perfect landing. But after touchdown the wind got under it, carried about 6 feet and slammed it down on it's rudder. Needless to say I packed it up and stood around with the rest, hands in my pockets.

Too much fun and keeps the adrenaline high.

Saawwweeeettt

The left wing bevelling and hinging came out really nice! The bevelling is to the max possible

The great thing about those hinges and the piano wire, is that you can get everything PERFECTLY lined up and meshing nicely with the Durant Box!

The Durant Box isn't glued in yet!! I'll do that later!!

Oops... that's a LOT of throw!!!

The 35% Carden Extra's are known to roll ultrafast with stock ailerons!! This thing is going to be insane!!! I predict 720 degrees per second... mark my words Jack!!!

Re: BBT/WINGBURNER --> 4 REDHEADS and a CARDEN

At the last weight check (first 2 pictures), the weight of the wing (core, sheeting, phenolic, rootcap, wing bolt blocks, ailerons cut-out) was 1lb 5.5oz.

After installing the TE, LE, Hinge stock, tips, cutting out Durant, bevelling and hinging, the finished weight of wing is 1lb 8.6oz (this also includes the Durant Box that's on the scale also)

So what's left:
* Covering... 4-5oz
* servo + extension... 3-3.5oz
Total - 7 - 8.5oz!!

These wings are going to come in very, very close to 2lbs each That's a new first for me!!!!
