Re: BBT 2.6m CompArf Yak55 / DA100L Build Thread

Yikes.... I kinda lost myself in the w-shop tonight playing with that Moki and Yak ... Next thing I knew it was 11:30pm

Lots done....
* Motor buttoned up, prop and spinner drilled
* Throttle servo and new choke servo installed
* Fuel pump installed and tank remounted
* Exhaust extensions installed
* Batteries mounted under the turtledeck to get the CG back to where it was with the DA100L

Tomorrow night - wire the batteries to the switches, clean up the bottom of the fuse and fix those holes from the DA100L mufflers and it's ready to go

Massive torque from this motor, Brad!!

It's spinning this 26x16 at 5100rpm Some people on RCU say I'll get 5300rpm, once broken in,but that may be a bit of a stretch!! Regardless, there's some massive wind from that prop!! With all that pitch, can you imagine how fast it'll torque-roll in a hover (hence why they aren't a good 3D motor, LOL!!!)

Massive torque at lower rpm and you should see how easily it spools that prop up!!!!

Re: BBT 2.6m CompArf Yak55 / DA100L Build Thread

I weighed this new combo this morning and allowed 2.5oz for battery leads from the new battery tray to the switches!!

31.8 lbs

There's absolutely nothing wrong with that weight, considering all the wing area on this plane and wind from that massive 26x16 prop!!

I have a feeling I'm going to like this conbo!!!

Total weight added from the DA100L option was 3.1lbs!!!! (however, I did save about 5oz of weight by going to a different battery set-up )

Thanks Don!!! I'm really excited to see how the Moki150 compares in power to a DA100L!!

I was hoping tomorrow (Sunday), but they're calling for high winds now

Don,

Of course it is, it's a Yak afterall even if it is a 55.

Hopefully Trev can remaiden on Sunday if the wind stays below 100k, he'll fly it, if it's ready.

Trev, need some help? I'm just at work doing some O/T but if you need help/support to get this finished to day I can drop by later, since you owe me a dinner anyways.

So did you and jen go to The Omega or did you choose McKeg?

Jim... so when you say "you'll come over to help", does mean drink beer and be moral support??? We've got a few couples coming over here for dinner tonight, so likely minimal building for me!!!

If the weather is decent (under 50kph winds), I'll be heading to FT tomorrow afternoon to remaiden this plane!! I only have an hour's worth of work to wire up the batteries to the switches, so it'll be good to go for tomorrow!!!
