Thanks Mike!!! The carbon tube is 0.1830" OD (the ID fits a 4-40 threaded rod) and they're epoxied in with 30-min.

Cheers

I forgot to mention that I also did a bit of testing of the carbon tube reinforcement vs balsa tri-stock a few weeks ago.....

I took strips of 1/8" plywood, 1" wide and glued them together with epoxy to form a 90 degree angle (to simulate a m-box joint). I reinforced the corners of (2) specimens with balsa tri-stock/30min epoxy and (2) other specimens with 0.1830" CF tube/30min epoxy.

After 1 day of curing, I pulled on the strips to try to spread the 90-degree angle....

Tri-Stock - the joint broke in the corner and split the tri-stock.

CF Tubing - the joint never flexed or cracked - the failure of the 1/8" plywood strips was up further in the plywood.

Therefore, I'm 100% sure that the CF tubing is a stronger reinforcement!!

Question......
What tubing and size are you using in the pipe mounts for the softmount?

It's the silicon tubing that DA sells... 0.4630" O.D. x 0.0340" I.D. and I make the slots 5/8" long.

Brad,

DA sells it by the inch and there standard is only 2" but if you request longer leghts they just use a per/inch sales pich but will cut to any length.

Tank saddles complete with CF rails (to strap the tanks down)

Lots of messing around but worth it in the end and makes the motorbox insanely solid

1L smoke tank on the bottom and 2L fuel tank on top
