Here it is;
Maiden voyage consisted of lots of touch-and-goes. FPV gear was on and recording while my spotter monitored it for signal quality while I flew LOS and checked out the aircraft.
Enjoy!

well done sire.

love the idea of recycling old planes for FPV too! I sometimes cruise the used listings, but they are mostly back east.

That's a nice result. Plus a million for ditching the slime for electric too!!

Electric flying is pretty much seeing how close to a dead short you can run without setting it on fire.

Re: Kadet Sr Conversion to twin for FPV

Thanks for the compliments, guys.

Watching the GoPro video on the nose, I am loving the sense of speed when flying low. I can see I will be doing a lot of low-level speed runs with this baby.

Right now they are 10x6 Flying on 4S packs.

Other members in my club are flying the G10 on 12" props and 3S packs. I might try that.

That is what I am loving about this plane. So many different variables to experiment with. I love this part of FPV/Model flying. Making small ajsutments to tinker and improve performance.

Now the FPV install begins in earnest.
Right now I have a jury rigged FPV setup in there with a crappy camera and low-grade OSD.

Yesterday I ordered a new K171 pro camera from Bev. Its to replace the "crapo" one I temporarily stuck in there for last weekends maiden. Visibility was so bad from this camera, it was hard to stay oriented during the weekend's FPV flights that I made after the LOS maiden flight.

The K171 is my favourite camera for a number of reasons. The best reason is: its got the best night vision capability of all cameras I've ever tried. Last night was Student night at our club field. When everyone else was packing up, I got my Red Kadet out for some night FPV flying. What an amazing night flight. There was a small crowd that stuck around after dark to take turns spotting and flying my plane. We flew 'till past 10PM. I (we) loved it!! The K171 gives such a great night view that I even landed in full FPV, I could see the runway so well!!

Just for fun, after the last flight I pulled out my quad that has the Sony PZ0420 CCD camera that is also rated for .01 lux. While both aircraft sat side by side in the dark, the picture quality was night and day. The PZ0420 was DARK AS HECK. The entire screen was a useless black, while the K171 still allowed me to see!! That sealed the deal for me. The 171 costs a little more but I want to be able to night-fly this twin as well. Ordered it as soon as I got home

I will be busy for personal reasons for the next few days but while I wait for this new camera to come in, I also will be working on the twin to get my permanent FPV gear installed. I will be routing the VTX out to the wing where I like it, routing the LRS antenna internally so it comes out the tail, installing the DOSD and prepping the mount for the camera on the top of the wing (where I like it!) . I will update as things progress.

Re: Kadet Sr Conversion to twin for FPV

Wow.

I just got my BEV K171pro cameras just now.
That is just 7 days from ordering!

Will probably start the permanent install of the FPV gear onto the twin this weekend. Stay tuned!
