Been on holiday so not really had the chance to follow this thread properly, but just read it from start to finnish and I must say all your findings match mine with this motor, its awsome when on the correct pipe.

I also got a 600 to 700 rpm increase on the correct pipe and header. My findings where the ks 1060 pipe is to restrictive for this engine for max rpm, the europe guys recommend the ks 1080 pipe for this motor for max rpm, but this gets chubby for anything other than extreme power for class (tugs?)

The re2 and es seem to breath better from what I have read and the EME pipe was 300/400 rpm stronger than the ks 1060.

Also nice to see comfirmation of flexi headers ruining the tune effect of a pipe, I suspected this and was going to do a comparison, but had not yet found the time. Thanks for that.

Keep up the good work Trev.

Would you say from your research that the RE2 would be similar to the ES pipe for performance?

Just for the reason that I have an RE2 hanging up and I don't yet have an ES....

(I am looking for one tho......Any sellers?.....)

Re: MVVS58irs Testing Thread

I didn't do headerlength testing on the RE2, but in general they like a 1.5-2" shorter header than the ES.

Also Scott... Well over 1/2lb weight gain with and RE2. For most motors, we've found the RE2 is stronger than the ES by a hundred rpm... Just our experience here but interested what Ray thinks.

Re: MVVS58irs Testing Thread

A fair bit of my info is personal testing but lots is also comparing info on the net, alot from Trev. I only have a EME pipe and a ks 1060 pipe.

The re2 and es pipe I dont own but have gathered alot of info that to me suggests they handle a 60cc motor better than a ks 1060, at least for peak rpm. Bear in mind peak rpm is not neccesary everything, well thats my opinion. Perhaps when running a larger prop, say 25 10 and thus lower peak rpm and longer header the ks 1060 will be fine?, food for thought.

If I was setting up a mvvs 58 and had my choice of pipe I would like to run a es pipe due to weight. But I would have two concerns and so not peak it header wise for two reasons, first the transition could be quite brutal, second the es pipe could fail under the exessive heat.

This is only theory though, im happy with my ef extra's power on 58 gx on ks 1060.

I wish I had as much time and money as you canadian boys to experiment some more.

Re: MVVS58irs Testing Thread

I def don't like to hear what's up with the ks1060s, I had 2 of my friends buy a pair of these for their 100cc planes after they saw how satisfied I am with my da150/ks1090s.

Sebastien.. I had awesome luck with my KS1090's also.

Seems certain pipes work better on certain motors.

Example:
* On the DA60 the KS1060's were the weakest over the RE2 / ES / Smoothpipe. Next weakest was the ES.
* However both the ZDZ112 and GP123 had the RE2 the weakest with ES the strongest (we never tested the 1060).

So what works best on one may not work the same on another. They're all excellent pipes regardless. Next to the ES, my favorite sounding pipe is the KS line... love the very unique exhaust note, regardless of motor.

Re: MVVS58irs Testing Thread

The sound of the KS is awesome I have to agree.
The 1060s I am talking about are going onto a ZDZ120 and a DLE111
Still best sound was quad ES on that 190 you have.
