New Gasser Needs Help!

I have a new Lanier Edge 540 30% with an Evolution 58gx engine. This is my first gasser and I have a few questions.
What is the proper way or hooking up the fuel and vent lines? Right now the feed line to the carb has a tee in it with the Dot filler. And the vent line goes out the bottom of the fuse. What is right?
When the plane flies the rpm changes with the attitude of the plane and sputters and bogs allot. Could this be from the lines, from the settings on the carb, from the carb vent? Has anyone set up this engine and come up with some needle settings that work?
Also, is there some electronics I should add in the plane to help and protect my plane. There is only the receiver in the plane.

thanks
Al

Sounds like your setup is ok, so as far as fuel lines, I prefer a straight shot no joint line right into the carb. Less chance of something going wrong. In order to do this I run 2 Clunks, 1 dedicated to the carb and one for fueling and de-fueling. Your vent setup is 90% right but is missing one key step, you have to loop the vent line up above the level of the tank. This prevents the possibility of a syphoning effect.

As for tunning just tune it like a glow engine, for a nice smooth transition, peak it on the top and back it down a little.

Good Luck....

You didn't run a line from the muffler to the tank did you? Gassers DON'T use mufller pressure. That nipple on the muffler is for smoke.

Is this a used plane and was it running or are you first owner?

How much breakin time on the motor?
