BTW... If your radio can do it, I highly recommend the quad flap setup. It is lots and lots of fun.

(you aren't the first to call me that !)

Bad luck for you; I was out taking my daughter to school and was very late getting back, as the only word in her vocabulary this morning was
NO!

When I got back, there was the stick!

What about that 60 size Ugly Stick?

Just don't let it hit you in the face

I think the used 9Z I bought can handle all the flight conditions, I'm going to have to figure out how to program it all!

Do you think I can use HS81MG's for quad flaps? I think I can as the control surfaces are only half the size of the usual ailerons and I want to save a little weight.

I flew mine with the 4 DS811's that came with my 9303 in the wing and 3 537's in the fuse. It flew well with those. Not sure what to say about the smaller servos. I would be more concerned about the ability of the servos gear train than its ability to handle the load from a torque point of view. When crow is activated and the servos are at full deflection and your altitude is 300' directly above the apron of the field and you dive straight down to the ground pulling out just before impact and landing the plane before it passes you standing on the flight line might over stress a smaller servo, but it sure is tonnes of fun to do.

I think you will love this plane, I know I did.

I just bought a Mini UltraStick and I am putting quad flaps on it too. Got it on RCC as well. I love this site.

An added thought. It never occurred to me to try smaller servos for the weight savings.

be careful it may be only half the length of the wing but i bet there bigger in overall surface area than a tipical control surface

i haven't seen the plane so just curious i did fly a goldberg? wild stick 1.20 sized and those surfaces were huge!!!!!

hrmm, I saw a load calculator somewhere...

HS81MG the MG stands for metal gear, half the weight and two thirds the torque of a DS811 (I buy them for combat planes)

The problem is more the wind currents, updrafts and downdrafts than wind speed. One field i fly at if winds comes from a certain direction, it creates all sorts of turbelence and strange wind currents which makes it very difficult to fly in.
A strong wind is not bad if the air is still smooth, only problem is trying to taxi.

[quote="JimMcIntyre"]Anything that's 'slippery', has a wide speed envelope, and aerobatic but, most importantly, anything with a low pucker value. [quote]

Like Jim said, and I'm having good flying in big winds with the GP Venus 40. Point and shoot in just about any wind. Lousy covering (Monokote-ugh!) but great flyer. Tex.
