Sony Mini cam for APV on QX350???
Hi all; I've been wanting to try aerial photography for some time and have several platforms in mind. I recently purchased a QX350 multi rotor and I'm wondering if anyone has experience with or can comment on using a Sony Mini cam (as100 or az1) for the photography on the 350. Will it lift it, run times, photo quality, etc. Thanks in advance for any info provided, even if it's a little harsh. Fixer

Re: Sony Mini cam for APV on QX350???
I mounted my Contour Roam, which is almost the same size and weight as the Sony (maybe even made by the same people ) on my Blade 350 QX3, but I found the weight and perhaps the oblong shape rally made the flight characteristics difficult to handle. I think too much weight ont he front and off balanced it.
I lost the link, but saw another guy on youtube mount one. But he moved his camera mount back to the middle of the Blade, in between the legs, not on the front, and it seems to handle it batter. good luck |

Re: Sony Mini cam for APV on QX350???
You should have no problem with the camera- but you should mount it as close to center as you can. That is one of the shortcomings of the QX- you cant shift the battery to offset the CG shift with a front-mounted camera as you can with some other quad models.
Run time will always be affected by the addition of any extra weight- be it a camera or even a second battery.
