Swapping out NiMh for Life packs

Morning gents.....I am finally swapping out my Hydrimax NiMh for these new Life 6.6v packs. Using them with my AR9100 rec in my Carden Cuda.

I understand each cell charged is 3.3v, any other hints & tips for using these packs?

(little different than regular lipos of 4.17v charged)

Re: Swapping out NiMh for Life packs

You are going to love them. I switched all my planes over to Life packs (Zippy Flightmax packs from HK) and they work great. Last forever on the shelf with next to no self discharge and last longer at the feild also.

Just make sure you fly a couple flights and charge and see how many mah you put back in the packs and then you can calculate your total number of flights available/pack from that. There is no way to really test the remaining capicity left in the packs any other way and they drop off rapidly when they reach the end.

Good luck and good choice

Great choice going to love them, they charge really fast at the field if you want to. Just be sure to slow balance charge them once in awhile as well.

Re: Swapping out NiMh for Life packs

There is a gizmo on the market which will predict the remaining capacity of LiFe batteries. I've been looking for one and I'll try to find the link.

Re: Swapping out NiMh for Life packs

Since they are rated at 6.6 are they still alright for the receivers and servos or do you need to add a BEC?

I have been using them on all my RXs....both Hitec Supreme 72mhz and Hitec Optima 2.4ghz RXs without any ill effects to date. A fully charged 5 cell NIMH pack tops out at about 7.0 volts also so not much differant than the Life packs.

I've been using them as well unregulated on JR recievers and hitec servo's. I also use them unregulated on my ignition for the gassers. Great battries.

Agravan so how do you like it? Is it easy to use? Been looking at getting one myself.

Re: Swapping out NiMh for Life packs

I have been using it since the start of summer. It is very easy to use. I also got there switch and special cord so that I can balance charge the batteries right from the switch jack. Excellent products in my opinion.
