Re: Hobbyking

If you read reviews, too many problems with that kit if you do any more then hover. But this instead: http://hobbyking.com/hobbycity/store...Helicopter_Kit

This might be even better kit: http://www.snhobbies.com/product_inf...roducts_id=460
and comes from Canada.

I've heard very good review for CopterX, even better then HK one: http://cgi.ebay.ca/CopterX-450AE-V2-...item414a049538

Friend has it, he is very impressed.

Re: Hobbyking

Had good sucess dealing with HK. They even e-mailed me to applogize when thier shipment didn't go out the next day. So far all shipments have come in with no post office or customs fees. Only comment is I find shipping gets expensive when the weight goes up.

When you complete the order, there is a place where they will declare the % value of the shipment. On my shipments they have inserted a copy of the invoice in an envelope on the outside of the box so be careful if you're tempted to declare less than the full value.

For those of you thinking about a heli kit, I'd by but 2 - one for spare parts. A common complaint seems to be no spare parts support.

Re: Hobbyking

I just did a quick little test to see which option came out cheaper..

HK450 - 44.98 USD Shipped
Flasher PE - 59-99 Shipped

however with the flasher you get an all aluminum parts... which would cost you approx. another $40 USD from HobbyCity, i think i'd go with the flasher instead!! However i'd still order the electronics (servos, gyro, motor, esc, and battery) from hobby city, just pick the recommended setup that comes up when you click on the HK450 and upgrade the ESC to a 40Amp.

Great deals for sure!! Good luck

I'd stay away if you go with the pack.
Crazy yeh? SN has the servo, SUPER fast for the tail, same price as HK: http://www.snhobbies.com/product_inf...roducts_id=508
basic servos for the head are $5 (same as this but no log and not listed on his website): http://www.snhobbies.com/product_inf...roducts_id=376
Gyro (friend has it and does 3d on his copter): http://www.snhobbies.com/product_inf...roducts_id=440
and 3cell, 25c lipo http://www.snhobbies.com/product_inf...roducts_id=600 (same price as HK after shipping)

Once you go with the complete package it will be cheaper or same going Canadian dealer and way faster shipping.

i think only ESC &motor is super good price from HK in this situation but even ESC is only a few $$

Re: Hobbyking

yep there is some good deals there, but if you were to compare items your getting quite a bit more expensive with snhobbies... here is what i came up with...

Complete order from Hobbycity

Qty Item Price
1 HK-450 HK-450 CCPM 3D Electric Helicopter Kit $29.99
4 HXT900 HXT900 9g / 1.6kg / .12sec Micro Servo $14.36
1 E500-06 Turnigy E500 6T 4000Kv 200W Heli Motor $16.60
1 HK-SS40A Hobbyking SS Series 35-40A ESC $11.05
1 GA-410 Assan GA-410 Tail Lock Gyro $27.95
1 Z22003S-25 ZIPPY Flightmax 2200mAh 3S1P 25C $18.99

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Payment method Paypal or Credit Card (Amex / Visa / Mastercard)
Shipment service EMS Express to Canada (MAX 1.5kg) $32.67
Subtotal $151.61
TAX $0.00
Total $151.61

so 151.61 and that is with the EMS express shipping as it was only $2.50 more than the slow boat.....

and the SNhobbies version:

Products (Edit)
1 x MKS DS480 Digital Servo with All Metal Gears $24.95US
1 x FLASHER PE 450 RC HELICOPTER KIT 100% TREX 450S COMPATIBLE $49.95US
1 x MKS GY-293 Head Lock Gyro $44.95US
1 x 3S-RC 11.1V 2200mah 25C Li-Poly Battery $19.95US
1 x MKS BL 35 AH Brushless ESC $24.95US

Sub-Total: $164.75US
Flat Rate (Total Shipping Cost): $9.95US
Total: $174.70US

And this doesn't include the motor or 3 9G servos because they were out of stock.. so thats another 19.95 usd for the motor and 29.85 so now were up to 224.50 USD. The only benefit your getting is a digital servo for the tail and aluminum parts for the heli at a cost difference of 72.89??? and if you buy the ultimate combo it's 289.95 but that gets you a radio charger and alum. carrying case to... so the cheapest option is def. hobby city.

What i would do is order the Flasher ARF, and the digital servo from SNhobbies ($15.00 for all metal upgrades is totally worth it) and get the rest from hobby city, not adding in the arf and servo drops the quick shipping from 32.67 down to 27.79 but the slow option drops from 27.89 down to 14.99.... lol!! confused yet??

It doesn't matter what your getting from SN hobbies the shipping is 9.95..

In my opinion this is the perfect set up for beginners....

Heli -- http://www.snhobbies.com/product_inf...2197b4bd2d229b

Motor -- http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=6316

ESC -- http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=6461

Battery -- http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=7636

Servos -- http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...?idProduct=662

Gyro -- http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=7647

Tail Servo -- http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=8511

Lipo Charger -- http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...alance/Charger

make sure to order spare parts, as there is nothing more frustrating than just getting the thing in the air and a hard landing takes out your tail blades or something like that... also pick up some wooden dowels and practice golf balls, make a training gear for it...
