Gas engine install
boy there sure isn't anything in the instructions on mounting or setting up a gas engine.I have a Zenoah 26 EI engine in a 1/4 scale extra and am trying to figure out where and how to mount the cdi box,it syas it can very hot 80C so be careful thats it??? Do I mount it in the fuse where it'll get hot or do I mount it under the engine on the firewall where the air can keep it cool ,also what about radio issues???I use a Futaba 7C 2.4 Ghz system. I did get the tank mounted thankyou everyone.

Re: Gas engine install
I have a YAK 54 102" powered by a 100cc. I mounted mine on top of the engine box. I mounted on a piece of foam both sides of the foam have doble sided type just to hold the module in place and I am holding it with velcro bands. I made a couple of fine rectangular cuts just to slide the velcro in and rap the CDI around agains the box.
In my previous airplane (Extra 260 50cc) I did the same thing but just for convenience I mounted at the bottom of the motor box. I have never had any heat problems with this modules. Cheers, Will

Re: Gas engine install
Zenoah are quite specific about how to mount the box. (potted face up) If you can get a little air flowing over it, so much the better. I put mine on with velcro, a piece on the side of the cdi and mounted it in the most convenient location.
Cheers, Dave.

Re: Gas engine install
Outside, I think is easier to access it and you don't have to drill extra holes in the box to run the cables that feed the spark plugs.
Cheers, Will
