I continually announce updates to the drivers I pit for. For some of the more experienced drivers, you might hear me communicating things like "your on a 10 in 5:10" or "your 5 seconds behind the leader, and have 4 seconds on 3rd place", "hold your line". I yelled up to Petre this past weekend, and filled him in on a few things that I thought he'd be interested in knowing that the race announcer simply didn't mention. He thanked me, so I don't think it distracted him in any way. Just an example!

For drivers who are less experienced, I may comment to them about things they are doing, and reassure them that they are doing well, and to relax by making comments like "don't race man, just relaaaax", "roll that last one bud. It's quicker" or my famous one..."don't race, just drive". But in ALL cases, I always make sure I announce their names loudly, and there's NO confusion about who I'm speaking too!

I just yell at 'leaners', but have been an offender myself. I think we all have! Nobody means to do it, but a shout out to them will usually suffice!
