Re: Flying field vandalism
We had the same problem here in Sioux Lookout, but as our field is out in the bush, the police were of no real value to us,so we took care of matters in our own way. Some 2x4 lumber with 3 in deck screws were placed on the road along with some old farm harrows...it took a little waiting on our part but the culprit was easily identified, but not until our field was ripped up in a fit of stupidity. Since then we have installed a gate and paid members have keys, we also ditched the areas ajacent to the gate and so far so good.We had our picnic tables burned and those idiots posted on face book with pictures... so busted! There is no way to describe the emotions when you first drive up and see the field all ripped up by a vehicles tires, all of our hard work and equipment time chewed up by a group of fools. It can be repaired at a cost and I hope you are successful in getting some of the cost back. Maybe the judge can be persuaded to force these punks into doing community service on rakes and shovels to repair their stupidity.

Re: Flying field vandalism
Alot of people have mentioned the possibility of having them make the repairs but that isn't a possibility as the repairs have to be done with the appropriate machinery by competent operators.

Ramz
If that truck had any insurance the insurance company would pay for repairs cause the truck is responsible for the damages from the liability portion of its insurance policy

Re: Flying field vandalism
You should get to keep the truck to help pay for repairs. Making then provide free labour aand fund the repairs will teach them more then charges which everyone knows they won't get crap from. I think I will wait until spring to try and get up with the radikal I told you I was going to build when we talked in truro. It looks like you have your work cut out for you. Their parents should be charged for not teaching them to stay off others property.

Stuff like this pisses me off.
Stupid kid. I would do all you can to get what you're entitled to out of this. Best of luck. |

Re: Flying field vandalism
Lots of good stuff here Mark....but if you do take him to small claims court, once you have the decision in your favour, please remember to put the amount out to collection.
The judgement alone won't do much, although as someone mentioned you can garnishee any wages. A collection however can come back and bite him 5 years from now...if he grows up (I know, unlikely) or gets married ( further diluting the gene pool) or wants to buy a shack - no credit if there's a collection.

Re: Flying field vandalism
Mark,
Sorry to hear about your field, let me know when you are going to start the repair, and I'm sure we can get a bunch to come up and help, I'll just put it in the NL, and I'm sure the responce will be great. Cato.

Re: Flying field vandalism
If I can make a suggestion, when you see the judge, tell him/her that you want all those folks involved to do community service and to fix that runway, at their expense and done properly by hand, as I'm sure you did too, if not fork over the $10000.00 and get them to pay the contractors.
Why can't people just keep their hands to themselves?? Geeeeezzzz. |
