Re: P-40 140size converted to gas

Ok.. finnaly got my computer back after it blew up.

Chart tape removed
Panel lines lightly sanded
Pre-shading compleated(Tamiya acryics Flat Black)
Sprayed one wing.

The trick here to spray the center of each panel one at a time. Overspray is your friend. You want to cover the lines, but not enough to fade them out compleatly. This has one coat and the lines are still a litle stark. A scound coat is need and was expected.

Re: P-40 140size converted to gas

Was out partying till 4:30 in the morn last night. But some how still managed to finish painting the bottom.

I used an automotive touch up gun to spray the bottom. Think Im going to use a dual action for the top.

Re: P-40 140size converted to gas

I had hoped to spray one color today. But i forgot I had to do a lot of masking first, so that took up a lot my time and now im beat. I did however have her on her feet today for the first time.

Maybe tomorrow.

Re: P-40 140size converted to gas

Sorry Brad.. But I wont be attending the show plus the plane wont be even close to being finished for at least 3 more weekends. Painting it is just half the battle

I started to spray the TAN color today with the twin action brush. I suppected it not to be a good choice. Its taking just WAY to long. I dont really want to use the Touch up gun for this either. I need somthing in the midle. Guess it off to Curries Art Supplies to buy another airbrush.

Just the first coat. You can still see how strong the Black Preshading is showing.

The technique here is to fill the center of each panel and try to bring it to it Full color and then go over the Preshading to tone them down. Two coats seems just right with this Latex Paint.
