Just wondering if anyone has shipped anything from the states with Bax Global? Do they charge after the fact like UPS and Fed Ex?

Thanks

Re: Bax Global?

I've never used them but I would imagine they would charge brokerage fees like all the other couriers. There is a charge to broker anything across the border no matter who is crossing it...some just charge a lot more than others.

Not after the fact but when you pick it up, because you will have to go to Airport Cargo Termianl to get it, Brokerage, Taxes will be charged on top of what you payed the supplier to ship it there.

Like admin said there is no way of getting out of Brokerage Charges unless you brokerage it yourself. Really the only way to do that is have it shipped by Bax Global to a shipping centre close to the border and drive into the US and pick it up at the Bax Global Office then declare it at Customs, walk in and pay Taxes only. Canada Customs does not charge for brokerage fees when it is self declared item at the border.

I did this when I ordered my Extreme Flight 88" Yak. Had it shipped to Bax Global in Townawanda and drove down Friday night and picked it up. Had to arrange for it with the depot though as they ussuaLLY CLOSE, TO THE PUBLIC AT 6:00 pm but they are there till 8 or so loading trucks. Picked it up at 6:30 PM. I thik I was in Buffalo for all of about 25 minutes. My record though is 17 minutes when I p/u my first EF 120 size Yak. that was in Niagara Falls NY and the FedEx/Kinkos was lke 5 minutes from the Lewiston Bridge.

I've had two 35% Extreme Flight Yak's shipped to Toronto using Bax Global. I went to their warehouse at the Toronto International airport and cleared the shipments myself. You'll get a call from Bax telling you that the shipment has arrived and they'll ask if you need a broker. Just tell them that you'll clear the shipment yourself. They'll get the paper work ready which you have to pick up and take to the customs office at the other end of the same complex. Take the paper work to the customs office, pay the GST and then go back to the Bax warehouse to pick up your boxes. It's that simple. No brokerage fees.

Re: Bax Global?

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm looking at the Cermark F-16 propjet. I really would like to have this plane, but I hate to spend $400 US then another $200 to clear it into Canada. Maybe you guys know of a Canadian dealer for cermark?

Also, if I do decide to go that route, is there a BAX warehouse in atlantic canada? Or are they affiliated with some other courier service here where I could clear it myself?

Again Thanks
Greg

Re: Bax Global?

Is the box that big?

Check FedEx, they aren't too bad on brokerage. The only company I've had a bad experience with has been UPS.

Can it be shipped USPS? Brokerage is cheap when coming in through Canada Post.

Re: Bax Global?

Yah, I did email Cermark about it. And they said it was to big for USPS, so they would send it Bax. I'll wait till I get a shipping quote and see how it goes.

Re: Bax Global?

Bax Global have now partnedered with a Canadian Company - Scheneker.

Here is the Sheneker Office in Dartmouth.

http://www.baxglobal.com/defaultFRM....=United+States

But as Steve said to avoid brokerage you will have to clear it yourself, probably at Halifax Intl. Airport but the office in Dartmouth should be able to tell you more.

If the item is US$400.00 then you should be paying only HST to Customs on the equivilant CDN ammount which right now would be CDN$ 509.04, but that changes by the minute.
