Programming help Super Decathlon

Hi Gang,

On my Pilot Super Decathlon the controls surfaces can be setup as flaps inboard, ailerons outboard or full length ailerons. I'd like to set them up as follows.

Low and medium rates outboard ailerons and flaps.
High rate full span ailerons and no flaps.

I'm using a Futaba T18MZ so I have plenty of mixes and channels available. Maybe someone with a 14MZ has done this already.

Re: Programming help Super Decathlon

Its actually fairly easy. I have many planes set this way so that I can use the flaps for some 3d action.

There are many ways to do it...

The first is to set them as 4 ailerons. and then in condition select make the inboard ailerons dr set to zero. Then do a mix from a empty channel to them to control flaps. I am not a fan of this method as its a complex program that is hard to adjust.

The best way I have found is as follows. Sret the outboard ailerons as dual aileons on different cahnnels. then set the inboard flaps as flaps (done in wing type) Thewn set you subtrims or linkages to have everything center. MAKE SURE THAT THE FLAPS ARE CENTRED IN THE MID POSITION.

Then adjust the flap menu to have either a dial or switch to control the positions. Again make sure you are using only half of the trw and you have avaliable throw for the up movement. The settings should be 50% for nothing and 100% or 0% for full flaps. Once that is set, make 3 conditions set to your rate switch. First to are low and medium and the other is youe 3d mode. In the first 2 set the rates and expo for the outer ailerons as you normally would. Then for 3d rate set them to 100 percent.

Now you should be able in the 18 to set an on off and control indivdually. set the on off to the 2 dr switch positions for the low and mid rate and then off for 3d. then the control is the switch you want to use for flaps.

Then all thats left is to do a program mix from aileron to flaps. You will have to revese one direction in the mix so you may need 2 mixes depending on how you do it.

Hopw this helps. PM me if you have problems. I have done this now on all my radios 9303, 11x, 12x 12z and 14mz so we should be able to get the 18 to do it!
