BBT Assembly Thread - 35% 3W Extra 330 (Stage 3)

I've been asked if I can put together a BEAUTIFUL 3W Extra 330 and have it ready to fly by this spring!!!!!

This is 3W's STAGE III kit - basically it comes to the your door with the fuse assembled, all the glass/prep work completed and you can order it in custom airbrushed schemes.

Slavo ordered this from www.aircraftinternational.com along with all the PowerBox supplies and a really nice 3W110 CS and canisters!

You don't see many of these planes in the STAGE III trim level, so I thought I'd post a few pictures

My Mandate: No Expenses Spared - Top notch stuff just like a Wingburner build!!!

Re: BBT Assembly Thread - 35% 3W Extra 333 (Stage 3)

I decided to make tonight a balsa-free night, so I got started on the assembly!

Slawo bought the 3W servo bay system for the wings - its a red-fiber reinforced plate that is epoxied into the bay and rests on some 1/4" plywood blocks. The close-ups don't show anything glued in place, but they are now!

The kit also comes with nice hinges - they are epoxied in place also now.

JR8711 servos should do the trick!!

I'm just waiting on SWB servo arms and linkages and I'll finish up the wings. I also got the servo leads made up from the ThunderBoltRc.com bulk wire/ends!

Slawo was in the Polish Airforce - hence the emblems on the bottom of the wings!!!

Re: BBT Assembly Thread - 35% 3W Extra 333 (Stage 3)

And the 8711 servos for the stabs are in place and hinges epoxied in.

The outer bay has been covered over with matching white monokote and I trimmed the opening around the servo arm for a cleaner look.

The fuse needed to be opened up for the servo wire hole and also for the access hole that will secure the stabs in place (I'll explain later).

Re: BBT Assembly Thread - 35% 3W Extra 333 (Stage 3)

Hey Trevor, looks great. Does the fuselage and stab come with anything to protect the servo wires when they go through? The wires might chafe thru due to vibratons. Cut and drilled fiberglass could be a good saw.

Very nice plane. Daren
