43% Hyperlite Slick 540.. Build By Brad
Its Back !!!!!!!
The Kevin Walker designed Hyperlite 43% Slick 540. Produced by Fibertech and More  This kit first appeared around 2010. Designed by Kevin Walker and the kits were produced by Aerotech. The plane made its debut at Joe Nall in the spring of 2010. The prototype flown there was 28 lbs, and was powered by a DA100L on stock mufflers. Later that year, Aerotech ran into some problems. Then a house fire etc in 2011. Aerotech closed their doors and are no more. This kit disappeared  Earlier this year I decided to track down the kit designer. To see if there was a chance of getting my hands on anything... drawings... anything that I could use to make myself one of these planes. I found Kevin and started talking with him. Luck would have it that he was planning to re-release the kit again for 2014. This time he teamed up with Rick and Brenda Lick. The owners of Fibertech and More. Fibertech and More ( formerly known as Stan's Fibertech ) is a well known company that produces aftermarket light weight fiberglass cowls, wheel pants etc. Fibertech is just in the process of getting set up in their new shop they built this fall. And will be expanding their services to cnc foam cutting, Fiberglass parts production, Canopy vacume forming, cnc router cutting. And more... After spending some time going back and forth with Kevin and talking to Rick. I was able to procure a kit  What I basically have is the prototype for the new version 3 that will be kitted soon  Here is the video of the first Prototype flying at Nall 2011. 28 lbs fling weight powered by a DA100L on stock mufflers.

After a couple months of emails and phone calls and planning. The kit shipped last week and the last of the 6 boxes arrived in Lewiston yesterday.
Andy and I made the trip over to Lewiston, NY to go pick everything up Here is some shots of Andy's truck loaded  When we stopped at Canadian Customs on the way back. We got a really enthusiastic Customs officer. Was really interested and said he would like to learn how to fly. We spent a few minutes telling him about some clubs in the area that he could check out and lots of guys that would help him get going. He was really gracious and nice .......... Carbon wing and stab tubes with carbon guide tubes.

Now for some wood.. Go ahead... run with it
The plywood parts ( motor box etc ) are all cnc router cut Basswood. Beautiful light weight wood. There has been a lot of cutty cutty done by the cnc router for lightening. In my discussions with Kevin. I told him I wanted to go lighter than 28 lbs. And I wanted to do it with pipes  So we talked about more lghtening that could be done. So he redrew a lot of the ideas we discussed and more wood has been removed. That is why this is essentially a version 3 prototype. I also have some more ideas as I do the build.
