Hobby King covering

Hey, guys,

I was just wondering if any of you have used covering film from Hobby King?

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...5&ParentCat=58

How does it compare to Monokote or Ultracote? Is it durable?

Thanks
AKM

Re: Hobby King covering

I've purchased three or four rolls; great price! However, if you order some you're better off buying two or three at once because of the added shipping tube cost. The covering is not wrapped on a cardboard tube, so you do save some shipping weight. Anyway, I quite like the HK covering. It’s very strong and will take an incredible amount of heat, not unlike Monokote. It is very opaque and quite thick, consequently it seems to be a little heavier than Monokote (I haven't weighed a known quantity, so this is only my impression). It shrinks well and, with a little patience, can be worked around compound curves nicely, more easily than Monokote, I think. I find that Ultracoat has a bit of a "stiff" or paper like feel to it, whereas HK covering is almost rubber like. I would not hesitate to buy more, especially the various checkered patterns which tend to be quite expensive in the Monokote or Ultracoat brands.

Re: Hobby King covering

I've used it and am very happy with the results. It is easy to apply and goes around curves very easy. the only drawback is once you have removed the backing don't let it touch as it adheres very easily. I like the stuff.
